About
Bloom @PPRC offers a holistic approach to perinatal mental health, encompassing therapy, counselling, mindfulness, and group-based care. We believe that addressing perinatal mental health requires a multifaceted approach.
Bloom understands the importance of culturally sensitive care with an emphasis on having therapists and counselors who understand the unique cultural and social factors affecting maternal mental health.
Bloom understands the importance of community support and we organize community events to create a network of peer supporters who can lean on each other during challenging periods.
Bloom serves the entire ecosystem—birthing persons, support partners, and children—by breaking barriers to ensure the family unit thrives for generations.
We are committed to ensuring that every family has access to services, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
Bloom at Pregnant with Possibilities Resource Center (PPRC), established in 2023, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding PPRC’s commitment to holistic care. It addresses the critical need for mental health support within the community by eliminating barriers to quality mental health services during the perinatal period. Our mission is to ensure culturally sensitive care and empower individuals and families to BLOOM to their fullest potential.
The need for this comprehensive support emerged through PPRC’s evaluation metrics, which identified significant gaps in mental health care during pregnancy and postpartum. As awareness of maternal mental health issues grows and stigma decreases, the demand for specialized behavioral health services continues to rise, particularly in Cuyahoga County. However, access to timely care remains a major challenge.
Bloom: Where Your Dreams Blossom to Grow
At Bloom Behavioral Health, we are committed to addressing perinatal mental health because we recognize the profound impact mental well-being has on both mothers and their children. The journey to motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also be challenging—especially for Black birthing individuals, who face higher rates of maternal mental health conditions due to systemic barriers, stigma, and disparities in healthcare access.
The Perinatal Period
Antenatal period (pregnancy): From conception to childbirth.
Intrapartum period (labor and delivery): The process of giving birth.
Postnatal period (postpartum): From childbirth to approximately one year after birth.
Why Maternal Mental Health Matters
Maternal mental health is essential for healthy pregnancies, safe births, and thriving families. Depression, anxiety, and trauma-related conditions can affect bonding, child development, and overall family stability. Without proper support, untreated perinatal mental health conditions can lead to adverse birth outcomes, increased stress, and long-term emotional struggles.
Our Commitment to Black Birthing Individuals
Black women are disproportionately impacted by maternal health disparities, including higher rates of postpartum depression and lower access to culturally competent mental health care. At Bloom Behavioral Health, we provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and holistic mental health services to ensure that Black mothers and birthing individuals receive the support they deserve.
Through therapy, support groups, advocacy, and education, we aim to break the stigma, close the care gap, and empower families with the resources needed to thrive. Because when mothers bloom, entire communities flourish.
Addressing Perinatal Mental Health
We envision a future where every individual and family, especially during the perinatal period, has equitable access to culturally competent mental health services. Our commitment is to create a nurturing environment where clients and families feel welcomed, understood, supported, and empowered to BLOOM to their fullest potential.
Our Vision
Bloom’s mission is to provide tailored, culturally competent mental health services to clients and families of the Pregnant with Possibilities Resource Center. Our mission is implemented through a multifaceted I:I approach, group-based support, and community services. Our goal is to eliminate barriers to quality mental health services during the perinatal period.
